April 13 - Tokyo, Japan

No tour for us today.  Three were offered, but we'd already seen what they were seeing, so we passed. We ran into Phil/Carol at breakfast and made plans for later today.  Then we wandered off the ship to check out the nearby shopping mall.  It was 6 floors, but we only hit a few of them.  There were lots of eating options, but it was too early for lunch for us.  Michael bought some GUM toothpaste as he likes that brand and we don't have it at home.  Then back to the ship for a visit with Jan/Tom in Coffee Connection and then up to lunch where Sarah joined us at the Pool Grill.  The new passengers were coming on board by then.  We're told that there were around 720 on this last segment and will be around 680 on the next.  About 140 of us are doing both segments.

Outside the mall were big areas of beautiful tulips in bloom

Some of the cherry blossom trees are still hanging in there.  They're just beautiful with the tuips underneath.

Another representation of the rules of walking on big sidewalks.

This hydrofoil blew past this morning.

The weather today was perfect; sunny and warm.  We spent a little time in the hot tub on the pool deck where it wasn't crowded because the new passengers were busy getting settled into their suites.

We met with the gang (Phil/Carol, Jan/Tom, and Sarah) in the Observation Lounge and then off to dinner at either Compass Rose or Chartreuse (Phil & Carol's butler got them a reservation last minute).  There are lots of new faces around now, including a new Captain Luca, who we don't think we've sailed with before.
