April 20 (#1) - At Sea

So we lost another hour of sleep last night as we work to catch up to Alaska time.  I woke up at 7:20 and by 10:30 I was so tired, I took a nap.  We've lost 3 hours since we left Japan and it seems everyone is feeling it.  The Coffee Connection and restaurants for breakfast are quiet.

After lunch, I went to the lecture by Diana Preston titled "Marie Curie to Hiroshima".  It covered a lot of territory and some of it was a bit too scientific, but generally, it was very good.  One thing I learned is that both Truman and Churchill signed off on dropping the bombs.

The seas are a bit calmer today, although there is still some movement, but the skies are still very gray and rain is intermittent.  The Navigational Information TV channel says there is 100% humidity.

This is my only picture for the day.  It's the entrance to Pacific Rim where we had dinner last night.

At Trivia there were only 5 of us (Jan has a sore throat and Carol had something else she wanted to do).  Again, we were out of the prizes with only 8/15.

To give our butler, Naveen, something to do, we ordered canapes to be delivered at 5 pm, so we invited everyone back to our suite to help us eat them.  Phil and Carol had also ordered canapes (Naveen is their butler too), so they brought theirs along.  We also gave Naveen our bottle of champagne that has been in our fridge since we boarded and asked for a bottle of Pinot Grigio instead. Then, all of us decided we would skip dinner, except Phil/Carol as they had plans with another couple.  Naveen is trying to convince us to order room service.  We can order off the regular room service menu, or anything from Compass Rose, and he will bring it to us.  He's so sweet and eager to be of service.

Tonight we cross the International Date Line.  Our clocks go forward two hours and the date goes back one day.  So we have the whole day of April 20 again tomorrow.  Very confusing.  I think I'll try to go to sleep early to make up for the 2 hours we'll lose.
